MISSION STATEMENT
In response to the Gospel message, Catholic Social Services offers emergency assistance to the homeless, to those threatened with homelessness, and to individuals and families in dire need. Confirming the dignity and worth of each person, we strive to support our clients through crisis situations, alleviate their suffering, and encourage and empower them in their journey toward self-improvement and personal independence.
In fulfilling this mission we partner with the community of the faithful in solidarity with and compassion for the poor.
PROGRAMS/SERVICES PROVIDED:
CLIENT CASE MANAGEMENT: In mentor-like relationship we strive to
Facilitate client growth, self-understanding, and hope;
Facilitate client assessment of
strengths and needs
reasons for present emergency/
possible remedies (both immediate and long range)/
Facilitate client recognition of personal ability, responsibility, and job skills.
Respond to present need/emergency.
EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE
EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE to families threatened with:
Utility Cut-off
Lack of Shelter (We pay to keep homeless clients who are ill in a shelter
through the month)
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES VICTIMIZED by
Fire /Natural Disaster
Major Illness/Untimely Death
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE:
Prescription Drugs for Indigent Persons
Health Clinic Co-Pays Provided
Assistance with Medical supplies/equipment not covered by insurance
Personal Hygiene Needs filled
BIRTH CERTIFICATE PROCUREMENT (by appointment)
EMPLOYMENT EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM:
Assistance with Interview, Application, and Resume (by apppontment)
Vouchers for Interview Clothes from Thrift Store
Provision of Non-Skid Shoes/Steel-toed Boots (with job referral)
Voucher for Hospital Scrubs/Kitchen Uniforms (with job referral)
Public Transportation for Job Acquisition and Job Maintenance
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE:
Local Bus Passes for Medical, Psychological, Legal, Educational, and Employment-related Appointments/Programs
Emergency Long-Distance Bus Tickets with Documentation of Need, Referral, and Verification of Lodging/Possible Employment at Destination
